Associate Professor at the Department of Mining Engineering and Education, PhD.
In 1985, he has been graduated with honors at Dnipropetrovsk Mining Institute named after Artem (now the National Mining University) on specialty "Technology and Complex Mechanization of Underground Mining of Mineral Deposits".
From 1985 to 1992 he has been worked on "Central" mine, PA "Vorkutavugillia", where he held the position from mining foreman to deputy chief engineer. From 1992 to 2004, he has been worked as a deputy director of the Research Institute of Mining Problems of Academy of Engineering Sciences of Ukraine.
Since 2004 until now, he is working at the Mining Department, SHEE "National Mining University". In 1997 – 2001, he has been studied on postgraduate courses on specialty 05.15.11 – "Physical Processes of Mining". In 2008, he defended his thesis "Substantiation of Parameters of Extraction Fields of Coal Seams in Difficult Geological Conditions» on specialty 05.15.02 – "Underground Mining"
He currently holds lectures and practical classes to the fourth-year students on main subjects: "Technology of Underground Mining of Mineral Deposits", "Mechanized Systems". In addition, he is a head of diploma and design projects, a member of the State Examination Commission for the Protection of degree projects and State exams bachelors, a head of production and pre practices, participates in the interdepartmental scientific seminar Specialized Academic Council D 08.080.03. He participates in implementing research projects at the University of themes GP – 467, SP – 101.
Y. Demchenko is actively involved in the organization of the annual International Scientific Conference "School of Underground Mining."
Basic research is focused on elucidate the mutual boundary coal seam and hydro geomechanical processes of the inflows in the array and on the surface of the mine field that generally defines hydro safety of mining.
Total amount of research works is 41, including 41, including 3 monographs, 2 manuals, 33 scientific articles, 3 methodical developments.
During his career, Y. Demchenko was awarded by signs "Miner's Glory" third degree "Miner's Valor" second degree, honors AES Ukraine "For Significant Contribution to the Development of Engineering in Ukraine", "Gratitude of NMU" and NMU diplomas.
